Who?

Hi, I’m Gary, the starter, and publisher of HarambeeWorks™.

HarambeeWorks™ was conceived because I meet and have gotten to know quite a few entrepreneurs who are passionate about their businesses, but who at times feel isolated.  HarambeeWorks™ is a way of bringing a community of passionate people together.  I would like us to share our business passions, support, encourage, learn from each other and find ways of giving back to our respective communities.

HarambeeWorks™ has an inward and outward mission.  Inward is empowering you and developing your business beyond financial aspects. The outward focus is about being part of something larger than ourselves, and making a positive impact in the community we share with our family and the world.

My business journey began in 2000 when I left a “comfortable” job at Danka Corporation and began freelancing in various IT positions at some well know companies in New York.  Some of those notable companies included Pfizer, ABCDisney, Miramax Films, the Brooklyn Public Library and The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).   Even while on these projects, during my downtime I would be thinking of businesses I could start.   In 2007 I organized RedWand Ventures LLC to provide web development and application related services.  As a company RedWand continues to evolve and I look forward to expanding the range of services that we provide.  On this journey I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many brilliant and inspiring entrepreneurs, whenever we’ve gotten into deep conversation, the subject of being able to form partnerships, share resources and perform acts of societal good always seems to enter the discussion.   As a result HarambeeWorks™ was born…

The full vision for HarambeeWorks™ is ambitious.   The hope is to build a niche community of founders and professionals, with profiles, interviews and so much more.  The hope is to have a collection of amazing resources for people  who are thinking about starting a company or wondering why they should.  HarambeeWorks will have a comprehensive events calendar that keeps you updated about everything going on, in one place.  A community section that gives founders a place to interact online, share information, connect and learn. We want to have an amazing site that extols the virtues and strengths of our community and is the go-to place for connecting with fellow starters.  Eventually, events and educational programs will be available for our entrepreneurs and community.

As you can see, it’s a big task and your help and support will be welcomed.  Over the coming weeks and months we’ll be sharing more of our vision with you, and ask that you participate in moving HarambeeWorks™ forward.  We believe this is a community resource, and should be heavily influenced by what you all want and need.  We will also be looking for people willing to commit to helping us build HarambeeWorks™ the community.

I look forward to meeting you here on HarambeeWorks™ and hearing about your business dreams, your journey and hopefully I can help you with something…
